About Us
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Golf bet is an independent editorial publication devoted to golf betting in the United Kingdom. We are not a bookmaker, we are not an affiliate aggregator and we are not a tipster service. Our purpose is to explain how the UK golf betting market actually works, in language a literate adult reader can use the same evening at the betslip.
What we cover
Our editorial scope is deliberately narrow. We write about the mechanics, regulation and culture of golf betting in the UK. That includes market types and pricing structures, the four men’s majors and the Ryder Cup, data-driven approaches such as Strokes Gained, UK regulatory changes from the Gambling Commission and HM Treasury, and the responsible-play infrastructure available to UK punters. We do not publish weekly tips, we do not run promotions, and we do not list operator-specific offers.
Editorial methodology
Every article on the site is built around three working principles: a documented research brief, a verified source registry and a structured review before publication. We treat each article as an editorial product, not a content feed.
Research brief
Before drafting begins, the editorial team agrees a brief that sets out the scope of the article, the target reader, the questions the article must answer and the boundary conditions of what it will not attempt. The brief specifies the primary sources to be consulted, the data points required and the structure the finished piece will follow.
Source registry
We work from a registry of primary sources rather than from aggregator round-ups. For statistics, this means we cite the UK Gambling Commission, HM Treasury, the Office for National Statistics, the Information Commissioner’s Office, GambleAware, the Horserace Betting Levy Board, the British Horseracing Authority and other competent bodies directly. For tour-side material we use The R&A, the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and the relevant governing bodies. For market and academic material we cite the underlying paper, report or filing rather than a secondary summary. Where a secondary source is unavoidable we identify it as such.
Verification and review
Every statistical claim, regulatory citation and direct quotation is checked against the underlying source before the article is published. Numbers are reproduced exactly as published, with the date and the source named in the article itself. Where a regulatory threshold or a tax rate is referenced, we record the legal instrument or official announcement that established it. Articles are reviewed by a second member of the editorial team before they go live.
Updates and corrections
UK gambling regulation, tournament fields and operator terms change. Articles are reviewed on a recurring schedule and updated when material changes occur. When we correct a substantive error or update a figure, the change is reflected at the top of the article. Readers who spot an error are welcome to write to us through the contact route on the site; we read every message and we publish corrections quickly when they are warranted.
Who writes our articles
Authorship on the site is attributed to the Golf bet editorial team rather than to individual writers. The byline you see on each article refers to the editorial role responsible for the piece (for example, “Golf Betting Analyst”), not to a specific individual. This convention is deliberate. It reflects the collaborative way our articles are researched, drafted and reviewed, and it means the editorial standard does not depend on a single person.
Our position on operators and promotions
We do not accept commercial relationships with bookmakers in exchange for editorial coverage. We do not list operator promotions, free-bet offers or welcome bonuses. Where an article discusses how UK books behave as a category, we do so on the basis of publicly verifiable terms, regulator data and observed market behaviour. We treat operator-specific marketing claims as evidence to be checked, not as facts to be reproduced.
Our position on responsible play
Gambling carries real risk. Every article on the site is written for adults aged 18 and over, and every article makes responsible-play information readily available, including signposts to GamCare, the National Gambling Helpline and GAMSTOP. We do not encourage staking and we do not normalise problem gambling behaviours in editorial copy.
Independence
Golf bet is an editorial publication and not a financial, legal or betting adviser. Our articles are written to inform UK readers about the structure of the market. They are not a recommendation to bet, and they are not advice on whether or how much to stake. All decisions on whether to wager remain with the reader.
